I knew you in RAP, 1978-82, but we did not keep in touch. Later email exchanges with you were few and far between. I remember you as a lanky, enigmatic unkempt and often morose guy, but you had a political wisdom and a dry wit that made a big impression on my young(ish) self. Thanks, it was never forgotten.  I sensed then that you were also kind, and the  tributes here prove that beyond a doubt. So nice to see how rich your  hinterland was.
